Entrepreneurship, Focus on results, Innovation, Integrity, Customer-oriented (internal and external), Financial optimization, Social-environmental responsibility, and Occupational safety.
For us at Santa Maria, interacting with the community is very important. Therefore, we receive periodic visits from colleges, universities, clients, and suppliers, with the goal of strengthening ties and showing the outside public how our activities work.
By understanding that a better society depends on each citizen, Santa Maria invests in activities that make a difference in its surrounding environment, encouraging its employees to also contribute in this process. Often, the company supports activities promoted by local health institutions. There are some activities developed by the company itself that deserve to be mentioned: Paper Donation - Whenever requested, the company seeks to donate paper to public institutions of Childhood and Elementary Education. These materials are used throughout the year in educational activities that were created for the students. Apprentice Program - A program that gives students attending High School and College the opportunity of their first job. That is the concept of the Apprentice Program, which was established by the company in 2008. This Program provides these young professionals with daily work experiences, giving them access to vocational training through courses developed with partner entities. Many of these young people become company employees after their Apprentice contract period is over. The incentive for educational training - One of Santa Maria´s main concerns is the educational training of its employees and their families. Therefore, the company has many partnerships in place that offer discounts at Schools, Colleges, and Language Schools.
Responsibility towards society and protection of the environment are values that Santa Maria carries. To this end, the company has implemented consistent programs of social progress and environmental protection, which result in continuous improvement of its production process, in perfect harmony with the environment, respecting current laws, encouraging environmental awareness and social duty. Socio-environmental responsibility is no longer a project for Santa Maria and has become a practice.
We believe that the key to corporate success is our employees’ evolution, through their own personal growth and achievements. To reach and maintain this standard, Santa Maria fosters several projects which aim for the comfort and well-being of its employees as well as their professional and personal development. This gives our team a sense of certainty that we all belong to one big family. The company is recognized internally and externally for generating opportunities for its professionals. When making internal selections, Santa Maria seeks to stimulate the growth of each employee and to identify potential and special talent, all while valuing personal and behavioral characteristics, as well as technical knowledge and work experience.
The SIG (Integrated Management System) allows the company to carry out electronic management of all its documents. It is also responsible for the control of the 5S audits of Santa Maria´s business units. In addition, it acts as an auxiliary to the other areas in the management of certifications such as FSC ®.
5S is a Japanese culture of good habits that aims to eliminate any kind of waste. It works through five principles or senses, which in Japanese begin with the letter “S”:
The purpose of this methodology is to improve the work environment. This is done through the adequate allocation of materials (especially unnecessary materials), organization and cleanliness of the workplace, space identification, creation of standards for maintenance of cleanliness, discipline, and continuous improvement of these processes.
The Santa Maria Group utilizes the 5S methodology since 2004 and all of its facilities have it in place and practice it daily, reaping the benefits that this methodology has to offer.
A computerized business management system that provides the integration of all areas and businesses, making managerial information available in a reliable manner without the need for parallel programs. This system facilitates the handling of information for the entire Santa María Group.
Document Management (GED) – tool for the control of Group documents.
Santa María has an Employee Suggestion Program, which seeks to stimulate the organizational culture to continuously improve, encouraging its employees to suggest improvements in their work process, workplace, or equipment; with the goal of reducing losses and/or raising the level of productivity. The company validates employees who suggest innovations or changes in their respective areas.
By participating in the program, the employees´ ideas can contribute to the advancement and overall performance of the company.
